Call for Proposals

The Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI) in sub-Saharan Africa - with funding from Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the Government of Norway, the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO); and Wellcome - is pleased to announce a call for proposals to support the establishment and operationalization of the Capacity Strengthening Hub (Hub). 

This call is open to organizations or consortia of organizations with demonstrated expertise in research and innovation management and experience supporting capacity strengthening of Science Granting Councils (SGCs) in sub-Saharan Africa.

Call details

This funding opportunity supports the establishment and operationalization of the Capacity Strengthening Hub under Phase III of the Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI-3). The Hub will play a coordinating role in strengthening the research and innovation management capacities of Science Granting Councils (SGCs) across sub-Saharan Africa. 

IDRC will allocate CA$500 thousand through this call over approximately for 2.5 years with potential for renewal. The expected start date will be July 1, 2026.
